Fireside Ventures Invests $1.5 Million in Sweet Karam Coffee

Chennai-based Sweet Karam Coffee, a brand synonymous with South Indian snacking, has successfully secured $1.5 million in funding from Fireside Ventures. This investment is poised to catapult the company’s offline expansion, fostering its reach into new geographical regions, and reinforcing its array of regionalized products.

The allure of a well-packaged South Indian snacking brand, characterized by clean ingredients (free of palm oil and preservatives) and widespread availability, holds immense potential both within India and on the international stage, according to VS Kannan Sitaram, Partner and Co-founder of Fireside Ventures.

Sweet Karam Coffee, spearheaded by founders Anand Bharadwaj, Nalini Parthiban, Srivatsan Sundararaman, and Veera Raghavan, addresses two pivotal issues in the realm of South Indian snacking. Firstly, it tackles the challenge of scarcity when it comes to well-packaged, preservative-free traditional sweets and snacks. Additionally, it seeks to counter the growing preference for Western snacks among the younger generation.

The brand boasts a diverse range of delicacies hailing from the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, with plans to further diversify its portfolio to include specialties from Karnataka and Andhra. In line with its expansion goals, Sweet Karam Coffee offers nationwide delivery within India and extends its services to 32 countries, effectively showcasing the global appeal of South Indian culinary traditions.
