CAIT, the Confederation of All India Traders launched a month-long national campaign on Wednesday, ‘E-Commerce Per Halla Bol’, in which local trade bodies under the banner of will hold ‘dharnas’ in more than 500 cities across the country, calling for a decisive fight against the ‘gross violation’ of laws and rules of the country right under the nose of the government by the big foreign e-commerce companies.

CAIT National President B C Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal in a joint statement said that the protest Dharna’s organised in every corner of the country proved that traders across the country have mobilised against the monopoly business model of big foreign e-commerce companies. They also said that all buffoons of foreign-funded e-commerce companies including the Niti Aayog and a handful of industry organisation are speaking the language of foreign e-tailers to protect their interests which have grossly irked the traders. “CAIT will expose them at the appropriate time,” the trade leaders pointed out. Both Bhartia and Khandelwal openly challenged these foreign e-commerce companies.

CAIT has also called a two-day national conference of prominent business leaders of all the states of the country in Varanasi on 30th September and 1st October, in which apart from other important resolutions, a complete all-India strike will be discussed. Meanwhile, the Kashmir Retailers Association (KRK) has extended support to the protest.

The manner in which foreign e-commerce companies have violated Indian laws through their arbitrariness, and dishonesty has resulted in lakhs of shops in the country especially mobile, grocery, FMCG, etc., closing down. “Now traders will not tolerate this and until the Government does not implement the rules of e-commerce and free the e-commerce business from the devious clutches of foreign companies, the traders will continue their aggressive campaign across the country,” CAIT said
