Funding Alert

Ikonz, a metaverse NFT startup backed by Gates, Bezos, and Zuckerberg, has raised a seed round from Woodstock and Village Global

Ikonz, an Indian metaverse and NFT business, has reportedly raised an unknown sum in a seed round from Woodstock, a distributed ledger technology (DLT) VC firm, and Village Global, an early-stage VC firm supported by Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Reid Hoffman. Polygon Studios also took part in the round.

Ikonz plans to use the seed round to acquire tech talent, work on a variety of NFT drops, bring in artistic talent, expand its IP partnerships, and more. It intends to release the first Suppandi NFTs – a beloved character from the Tinkle book — within the next two months.

Village Global

Ikonz was founded in 2021 to bring India’s top entertainment IPs, brands, and tales to the metaverse. It collaborates with Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle, and other legendary Indian businesses. The NFT business is essentially a wealth-building platform that enables IP owners, artists, and other well-known figures to safely manage their digital assets and participate in virtual worlds.

Woodstock Fund, founded by Pranav Sharma and Himanshu Yadav in 2019, is a venture capital firm focused on blockchain settlement layers, service and infrastructure, privacy, and apps. Elrond, Covalent, Biconomy, NEAR Protocol, and many other promising blockchain firms have received funding from Woodstock.
