Fintech giant Paytm has appointed Srinivas Yanamandra as its Group Head – Regulatory affairs and Policy.
He brings with him over 20 years of experience in building compliance systems and processes at large and fast-growing businesses.
His last job was with the New Development Bank in Shanghai, where he held the post of chief of the compliance division. Prior to working there, Yanamandra worked as a compliance professional — both at ICICI Bank and IDFC First Bank in Mumbai city — focusing on various aspects of banking regulation such as governance, risk management, and risk-based supervision, prudential reporting, digital banking, etc.
Yanamandra’s appointment comes at a time when the fintech sector/ecosystem in India is being closely watched by RBI. In March, RBI directed Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma-promoted Paytm Payments Bank Ltd to stop opening new accounts amid “material supervisory concerns” observed in the bank.

Yanamandra is also serving as a member of the policy working group of the Digital Currency Global Initiative, which is a collaboration between the International Telecommunication Union and Stanford University.
Talking about his new post, Yanamandra said, “Paytm’s contribution to the Indian fintech ecosystem is exemplary, augmented by the business-friendly regulatory developments in India. I’m excited to make my contribution in fuelling the company’s journey as it continues to achieve new milestones.”
Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder/ CEO of Paytm, commenting on the new appointment, stated, “Indian regulatory initiatives have always acted as enablers for Digital India as well as payments & financial services in India. We are excited to welcome Dr. Srinivas to the Paytm team. His years of experience in the financial industry will contribute to the rapidly growing Paytm ecosystem.”
