Enterprises become future-ready by collaborating with startups: Microsoft employee Sangeeta Bavi

According to Sangeeta Bavi, Executive Director, of Digital Natives at Microsoft, working with startups can help them develop solutions that are suited for the future. At the YourStory flagship startup event TechSparks 2022, Sangeeta Bavi remarked, “Partnering with startups is like a crystal-gazing experience for what is coming in the future. In terms of technology and business models, it is critical for Microsoft.” She mentioned that businesses can consider acquiring some of their SaaS (software-as-a-service) solutions from startups as an example of what they can do for startups.
“Enterprises can provide the right kind of program to help startups optimize their cost lines as they grow. The other thing is tech mentorship—while startups have a great idea, at Microsoft we provide them with mentorship to scale and develop their ideas,” said Sangeeta.
Startups can also work with Microsoft by submitting an application to its Founder’s Hub program, which connects them with Microsoft’s venture capital partners in India and around the world and provides them with mentorship from the firm.
“What we can do at Microsoft for the next 12 to 18 months of your journey is bring down the technology cost to zero dollars and look at adding to your topline. Microsoft sells in 192 countries, and we can help these startups sell in these countries,” said Sangeeta. Microsoft will continue to be a platform for startups to grow and go international, she added.
According to Sangeeta, knowing the type of support a business is seeking frequently makes it easier for them to connect with it when they are trying to pitch enterprise-backed accelerator programs and mentorship modules.
“Having clarity on what you want from that partnership is important. There are multiple enterprise startup programs; the ability to have the clarity to say that this is what will help go to market faster, build a differentiated product, or expand geographically helps,” stated Sangeeta.
