The Zoho investment will help Genrobotics, the winner of the Business Line Changemaker Awards, complete manual cleaning in India and bring safety and dignity to workers in the sanitation and oil and gas industries. Genrobotics’ main products are bandicoot robots that help clean limited spaces such as manholes, sewer wells, storm drains, oil spills, and refinery storm drains. Currently, 14 state smart cities, city municipalities, refineries, multinationals, townships, and residential colonies have deployed bandicoot robots to end the practice of cleaners entering manholes.

“Nurturing a thriving deep-tech ecosystem in India is one of Zoho’s priorities, and the investment in Genrobotics is a continuation of that commitment,” said Sridhar Vembu, CEO and co-founder of Zoho. Such technological competencies and critical know-how locally can foster sustainable growth across key sectors like industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and energy, in turn making the country economically stronger and self-reliant, he added.
Genrobotics recently entered health care with G Gaiter, a robotic gait training solution for people with SCI. According to the company’s announcement, Genrobotics products, which are part of the Make in India initiative, will be developed and manufactured entirely domestically.
