Leafly announces new board ahead of SPAC merger; Amazon vets depart; and more


Leafly has announced a new six-member board of directors. The appointment of this board will take place after the completion of the SPAC merger with the New York-based Merida Merger Corp. Be effective. The new board includes: 

Michael Blue, Managing Partner of Privateer Holdings, a marijuana investment company previously owned by Leafly. Cassandra Chandler, President and CEO of the Vigeo Alliance. Blaise Judja Sato, founder of Seattle-based non-profit Village Reach. Merida Marger Co., Ltd. Peter Lee, my president and CFO. Yoko Miyashita,  CEO of Leafly since 2020.  Former Expedia EVP and CFO Alan Pickerill. Shareholder of Merida Marger Corporation. I  will meet in January. 14. According to Reuters, they agree to a SPAC transaction. 

-Technology companies across the country continue to hire Amazon executives: 

 Rene Villegas is a former  marketing director for Amazon subscription boxes and chief marketing officer for Boston-based wireless operator Starry. According to insiders, 12-year-old Amazon Veteran John Kalan has joined Travis Kalanicks Cloud Kitchens as CFO. Curran was  recently Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Finance for Amazon’s International Consumer Division. Craig Berman, who has been involved in global communications at Amazon for over 14 years, is the first corporate marketing SVP of e-commerce startup Fabric.  Accelerator and VC fund Techstars has appointed Marie Moussavou as Chief Portfolio Officer. Based in London, Moussavou has held various positions in European operations, vendors and merchandising teams for 15 years at Amazon. -Everett, Washington. Funko, a maker of pop culture products, has appointed its current board member, Charles Denson, to chair the board of directors. The company also announced that new CEO Andrew Perlmutter has joined the board of directors to replace Gino Dellomo, a partner at Funko’s parent company ACON Investments.

-Nintex Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer Dustin Grosse retired from Washington-based workflow automation company Bellevue at the end of last year. A spokesman for one company  confirmed Grosse’s resignation and said the company would not hire a CMO in the near future. 

 In October, Nintex announced that TPG Capital would acquire a majority stake in the company. The deal was signed in November and Ben Brewer, who joined Nintex in 2020 as Chief Revenue Officer, was appointed president of the Go to market organization. In this new role, he leads Nintex’s sales, marketing and customer success teams. 

-Seattle-based biotechnology company Icosavax has appointed John Shiver to its board of directors. 

 Shiver is currently Chief Infectious Disease Strategy Officer at IGM Biosciences. Previously, pharmaceutical and vaccine companies Merck & Co, Inc. And was a senior manager of Sanofi Pasteur.
