The White House has announced that US President Joe Biden will travel to India next week to participate in the G20 Summit. President Biden is scheduled to arrive on September 7 and will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8.
India, as the current president of the G20, will host the summit in New Delhi from September 9 to 10 under the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
During his visit, President Biden will commend PM Modi for his leadership of the G20 and reaffirm the US commitment to the G20 as the premier forum for economic cooperation, including hosting it in 2026.
The leaders are expected to discuss various global issues, including the economic and social impacts of the conflict in Ukraine, as well as efforts to strengthen multilateral development banks, such as the World Bank, to combat poverty and address global challenges.
Following the G20 Summit, President Biden is scheduled to travel to Hanoi, Vietnam, on September 10.
The G20 is an international forum consisting of major developed and developing economies, with several guest countries participating this year. While many world leaders have confirmed their attendance, China’s President Xi Jinping’s in-person participation remains uncertain. There is a possibility that Premier Li Qiang may represent China at the summit in New Delhi.
