Startup CEO Left Speechless by Software Engineer’s Brutally Honest Response to Job Offer

Patel had contacted the engineer to gauge her interest in working for his company, after raising a pre-seed round of funding to expand the business. The engineer was quick to point out that her current salary was more than Walnut’s entire pre-seed round.
The straightforward response from the engineer, which took place in September 2021, is now receiving widespread attention on Twitter, with many users finding it amusing. Patel himself admits that he is still thinking about the exchange nearly two years later. However, he blurred out the engineer’s name to protect her privacy.
According to Crunchbase, Walnut, a New York-based startup, has raised a total of $113.6 million in funding over four rounds. In April 2021, the startup had raised $3.6 million in funding. Patel’s company aims to increase access to healthcare by making it more affordable. He is currently hiring talented engineers for his startup, which has led him to reach out to potential job candidates.
Despite the candid response from the software engineer, Patel’s company continues to make strides in the healthcare industry. Walnut has raised a significant amount of funding and has grown its business over the past few years.
