Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan launches 75 million sportstech fund


Indian cricket player Shikhar Dhawan announced the launch of a global investment fund to invest in sports tech startups with an initial corpus of $75 Million and a greenshoe option of $25 Million. The fund is basically focused on sports based startups and it will be a global multi-stage fund. The fund will be included for the representation of different sports personalities from all types of sports fields. 

By this Dhawan became the first Asian person to have launched a venture capital fund to invest in startups and basically in sports startups. The fund is also known to be the second sports tech fund in about a year, with the Dream Capital launching a $250 in this august. The announcement was made during the Annual Abu Dabi Global Capital week of the year.

Dhawan is one of the Indian cricketers who have founded startups as well, with Jatin Paranjape the former India cricket player in 2016 named Khelomore. He has also collaborated with many startups in this year itself like Web3 startups, Bliv.Club and WIOM etc as a part of launching the first sports city in metaverse.
