Shark Tank judges Amit Jain and Namita Thapar invest in Funngro, a teenage freelancing startup


Funngro, a Mumbai-based platform that provides real-life freelancing projects for teenagers to earn money, recently secured Rs 50 lakh in a pre-seed round during the Shark Tank India reality show in exchange for slightly over four percent of equity. 

The start-up received Rs 25 lakh each from investors Amit Jain, co-founder of CarDekho group, and Namita Thapar of Emcure Pharmaceuticals.

Funngro, co-founded by Payal Jain and Anik Jain, aims to promote economic empowerment among teenagers by providing paid freelancing projects. The platform’s goal is to equip young individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare them for the workforce in the future, while also helping them discover their true passion.

Teen Freelancing

Namita Thapar expressed her enthusiasm for investing in Funngro, stating that the “current generation of teenagers is eager to tackle challenges and that the platform provides them with an opportunity to learn and earn”. She also emphasised “the importance of empowering and supporting the youth”.

Amit Jain shared his excitement about partnering with Funngro to assist young people in discovering their true calling. He believes that “the future of India lies in the hands of the next generation and is eager to contribute to the platform’s mission”. Amit Jain also emphasised “the value of real-world experience in learning” and expressed his commitment to making a positive impact on 20 crore young individuals.
