The board of advisors of Healthtrip.com, a health travel startup based in Delhi and Abu Dhabi, now includes Sanjeev Misra, a former global executive at Paytm.
Sanjeev Misra, who has more than 30 years of experience, has held leadership positions at several well-known companies. He was responsible for leading Paytm’s cross-border business, served as a Vice President for Adani Group, overseeing global expansion, and held the position of Vice President for business development at Reliance, where he focused on the South East Asian market.
Before his leadership roles in India, Sanjeev Misra spent more than a decade working in Silicon Valley for prominent brands such as Motorola Semiconductors, Cisco Systems, Adobe, Compaq Computers, and Silicon Graphics.
Sanjeev Misra is currently leading investments at the Rajeev Misra Family Office.
His past experiences of interacting with numerous patients across Asia and Africa have motivated him to mentor Healthtrip.com. The health travel startup was founded by Danish Ahmed, a former Vice President at Paytm.
According to Mr. Misra, “millions of people travel every year in search of better health, cosmetic, and wellness treatments, contributing around $400 billion to the global market. The COVID-19 pandemic has further boosted this trend, and the demand for new treatments such as cancer, IVF, aesthetics, and longevity has also increased. Healthtrip.com’s tech-driven approach to health tourism has helped over 40,000 patients from 100 countries”, and Mr. Misra believes that “the platform is well-positioned to become a global leader in the sector, thus contributing to the United Nations’ development goal of providing access to healthcare to millions of people”.

Healthtrip, formerly known as Hospals, is the biggest medical travel platform in Asia, with teams operating in eight countries. The startup was launched in 2019 and has raised approximately $4 million in pre-series A funding from investors such as Wavemaker, Spiral Ventures, and several angels, including Deepinder Goyal and Kunal Shah.
Danish Ahmed, the CEO of Healthtrip, expressed his excitement about Sanjeev Misra joining the advisory board, as “the health travel startup looks to expand globally”. According to Mr. Ahmed, “Mr. Misra’s experience in growing billion-dollar companies across key markets such as the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia, and Bangladesh makes him an invaluable addition to the board. Healthtrip has already experienced ten-fold growth in the past 18 months and hopes to continue its expansion with the guidance of its board, ultimately providing millions of patients worldwide with the best healthcare and longevity solutions”.
Healthtrip is a health travel startup that specialises in medical tourism, providing patients with assistance in finding the best surgeons from over 300 hospitals across top destinations such as India, UAE, Turkey, and Thailand. The platform offers a one-stop solution by providing tele-consultations, visa assistance, hotel bookings, interpreters, and logistics services on its platform. Healthtrip’s services are available in eight different languages, making it accessible to a wider range of patients.
The Indian government is committed to promoting medical tourism and has set a target of doubling the country’s earnings from this sector.
Due to the rise in inflation worldwide and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Indian hospitals are experiencing a 130% growth rate compared to pre-COVID times.
The Indian government’s initiatives, such as the medical e-visa and the recently launched Ayush e-visa, have also helped streamline patient flows to India.
