SaaS Startup UrbanPiper Acquires Ordermark’s U.S. Operations to Enter Competitive Market

UrbanPiper, a SaaS startup catering to the restaurant and food industry, has recently made an undisclosed acquisition of Ordermark’s U.S. operations. This strategic move aims to enable UrbanPiper’s entry into the highly competitive U.S. market. By leveraging Ordermark’s specialized knowledge, UrbanPiper anticipates bolstering its capabilities and expediting its expansion, primarily in the United States and Canada.

UrbanPiper, established in 2016 by Saurabh Gupta, Anirban Majumdar, and Manav Gupta, offers comprehensive solutions for streamlining in-store and online commerce activities of various businesses. On the other hand, Ordermark is a prominent platform for aggregating online delivery orders for restaurants, boasting an impressive track record of facilitating over 30 million transactions each year, contributing to a substantial gross annual value exceeding $1 billion.

Commenting on the acquisition, UrbanPiper’s cofounder and CEO Saurabh Gupta said, “This acquisition allows us to offer new capabilities and extensive point of sale (POS) integrations to our customers, while also expanding our reach into the U.S. market.”

In addition, he expressed optimism that UrbanPiper’s cutting-edge solutions will strongly resonate with restaurants and food businesses in the United States, empowering them to succeed in the digital era. Boasting offices in Bengaluru, Dubai, Riyadh, and London, UrbanPiper proudly serves a global network of over 35,000 restaurants and handles an impressive volume of over 300 million orders annually. Its wide-ranging services encompass workflow automation, seamless integration with multiple online delivery platforms, advanced analytics and dashboards, as well as marketing automation functionalities.

UrbanPiper facilitates expedited food delivery for businesses through various online delivery platforms, including Swiggy, Zomato, Talabat, Deliveroo, UberEats, and others. As a result of this acquisition, UrbanPiper will welcome Ordermark’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Arpan Desai, along with their skilled product and engineering team. UrbanPiper anticipates that their valuable expertise and contributions will serve as a crucial catalyst in successfully launching and expanding their operations throughout the United States.

UrbanPiper has successfully secured approximately $32 million in funding from prominent investors including Peak XV (formerly known as Sequoia Capital), Tiger Global, Swiggy, and Zomato. Notably, the startup concluded a Series B funding round last year, raising a substantial infusion of $24 million. The Indian foodtech industry has been experiencing significant transformations, particularly with the advent of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

In addition to food delivery startups, there has been a surge in the launch of startups providing SaaS and enterprise tech solutions tailored for food businesses. While some focus primarily on payment-related services, the market also features players like Posist and similar companies that specialize in offering comprehensive restaurant management solutions.
