Kerala’s FarmersFZ Joins Global Accelerator Program for Sustainable Farm-to-Table Solutions

Kerala’s Farmers Fresh Zone (FarmersFZ) has been chosen as one of the 12 agri-food start-ups worldwide to participate in the accelerator programme initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organisation. The Kochi-based multichannel marketplace platform, operating under the Kerala Startup Mission, is among the two Indian start-ups selected for this programme, which aims to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Pradeep PS, the CEO of AgriTech D2C, a startup established in 2016, has been invited to participate in an upcoming UN event in Rome. The startup has gained recognition from the FAO for its Sustainable Way of Doing Business model, which focuses on reducing carbon emissions and minimizing food waste through the implementation of Farm-to-Fork principles as a service (SaaS). The model promotes regional production and consumption, and Pradeep PS will represent the company at the prestigious event.

According to Pradeep, the UN programme will enable FarmersFZ to present its model before countries across continents. “The model would require alterations based on the nature of the markets in each economy. For that we need funds, which will come through the Accelerator,” he noted.

FarmersFZ is a platform that facilitates the direct connection between rural farmers and urban consumers in Kerala. The startup aims to provide fresh, high-quality, and pesticide-free vegetables to consumers within 24 hours of harvest, ensuring a farm-to-table experience. With over 300,000 consumers and a network of 2,000+ farmers, FarmersFZ has successfully bridged the gap between agriculture and urban markets. This initiative is supported by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), which serves as the nodal agency for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
