For the first time in India, Telangana to kick start Trials For Vaccine Delivery By Drone From 9th September

Drone delivery trials of medicines and Covid-19 vaccines are scheduled to kick off from tomorrow onwards by the Telangana government. It will be held in Vikarabad, Hyderabad from 9th September till 17th October.
‘Medicine From The Sky’ is an ambitious project of the state government and it will become the first State to begin trials of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone flights for delivery of Covid-19 vaccines. Drone delivery start-up firm Skye Air Mobility, Blue Dart along Telangana Government are part of the consortium handling the project.
The first two days of the trials will be flying in the visual line of sight between 500 to 700 meters from the base. From September 11 onwards BVLOS drone flights will take place for 9-10 km. These flights will be with consignments of vaccines, medical samples, and other healthcare items.
India’s nationwide vaccination campaign has administered over 70 crore Covid vaccine doses so far. While the nation is focusing on achieving 100% vaccination, the current situation demands much deeper discernment of vaccines, especially in remote areas. Delivery of vaccination through drones would be a stepping stone to achieve this goal
