Edtech Startup: Newton School bags $24.7 Mn via Steadview, Nexus

Newton School, an edtech startup has closed around $24.7 Mn fresh round of funding led by its new investor – Steadview Capital. The round also saw participation from SAMA Trust, RTP Global, and Nexus Partners.
Along with 10 equity shares among the above-mentioned investors to raise $24.7 Mn (INR 188.4 Cr), the startup has further allotted a total of 5,473 Series B CCPS . To include a minor debt element to it, the round could further increase.
Almost a year after the startup raised $5 Mn in its Series A round led by RTP Global, the funding came in . Nexus Partners, Prophetic Ventures, Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, Kunal Shah, Kalyan Krishnamoorthy also participated at that time.

Newton School founded in 2019, focuses on skill development for graduates and with a focus on placement in tech companies for professionals. The startup was founded by Nishant Chandra and Siddharth Maheshwari, which offers live classes, mock interviews, industry projects, and personal mentoring for the candidates.
With a video content platform Bolo, it had been initially started and eventually pivoted into an edtech startup.
Only when a candidate receives a job offer, the startup charges fees. As per its website, candidates from Newton School have been employed by Vimeo, Xiaomi, Google, Dream11, Motorola, BYJU’S among others.
Scaler Academy, upGrad, Pesto, Great Learning, among others are included as other edtech players in the Indian upskilling space.
