Bengaluru-based start-up Hydenmet raised $150k from angel investors through ah! Ventures

Hydenmet, a Bengaluru-based agritech, and environmental intelligence business raised $150,000 from angel investors through the ah! Ventures angel platform on Tuesday.

“When we started in 2019, the idea was just to provide hyperlocal weather intelligence through a dense network of weather stations and other sensors,” said Bhaaskaran Rangarajan, Founder, and CEO of Hydenmet. “But it was shaped into agritech and other allied support services for small and marginal farmers, combined with the long-term vision of creating an environment-sensitive next-generation solution,” he added.

Hydenmet (previously Qihou Solutions) was founded in 2019 and won the state of Bihar as a customer in August of that year when they produced the “Indravajra” mobile application for lightning detection and early warning.

STAGE (Smart Technology-Based Agriculture Enabler) provides hyperlocal environmental intelligence and crop advisory to farmers; VYOMET (alerting mobile app) provides lightning and dangerous thunderstorms alerting to people with the goal of saving lives, and CLASS (Climate Learning and Student Safety) provides environmental technology and education to school students with the goal of creating future gen

By introducing a unique per acre per year pricing model for a range of support services supplied to farmers working with farmer producer organizations, Hydenmet hopes to capture the bulk of the small and marginal farmer’s market, which has been disregarded by most large agritech firms (FPOs).

Since February 2021, Hydenmet has negotiated three-year contracts with around 25 FPOs covering 50,000 acres of cultivation across three states. Even if Hydenmet just gets 5% of the 100 million acres of agriculture in India by small and marginal farmers in the next few years, they can expect earnings of Rs 2000 crore each year.
