Funding Alert Travel Startup

Antler Backs $1.8M Round for Spun, Indonesia’s AI-Powered Travel Revolution

Spun, the Jakarta-based travel startup reimagining Southeast Asia’s fragmented booking ecosystem, has raised $1.8 million in seed funding led by early-stage powerhouse Antler, accelerating its mission to deliver hyper-personalized itineraries blending flights, stays, and experiences through a single conversational interface.

The Bali-headquartered platform leverages Indonesia’s 300 million population and 50 million annual tourists by combining real-time pricing across 500+ airlines and 100,000 properties with AI agents that understand local nuances – from halal dining preferences to volcano eruption advisories. Unlike global OTAs pushing standardized packages, Spun curates journeys factoring Bahasa queries, family travel dynamics, and last-minute Lebaran surges.

Co-founders Rina Wijaya and Aditomo Hariyanto built Spun after experiencing Booking.com’s tone-deaf suggestions for archipelago hopping. Their edge: proprietary scrapers pulling Garuda deals, Airbnb Dynamic Pricing forecasts, and TripAdvisor heatmaps, packaged into chat-first experiences converting 4x higher than app browsing.

The capital fuels aggressive expansion into Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines while doubling engineering to build voice commerce for Tier-2 cities. Antler partner Marc Andreessen called it “Southeast Asia’s travel super-app seed” – capturing the $100 billion regional market where WhatsApp bookings still dominate over websites.

Spun proves Indonesia’s travel chaos births software empires. When AI understands “three days Bali honeymoon under 10 million rupiah,” $1.8 million unlocks conversational commerce dominating archipelago tourism’s trillion-rupee future. Antler just backed the interface taming Southeast Asia’s wildest travel market.
